Clare is a founding member of The Women’s Prize for Fiction, of which she remains a Founding Patron.
She was made a Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2021.
She has served on the board of New Writing North, as President of the Association of Authors’ Agents and is currently on the board of the Charlotte Aitken Trust.
Her work has been recognised with a number of industry honours: she was named Orion Publishing Group Literary Agent of the Year at the British Book Industry Awards in 2007 and received the Kim Scott Walwyn Prize in 2008.
In 2025 she was listed among the top 30 agents in the UK by The Bookseller.
