Before founding her literary agency in 1998, Cynthia Cannell was for twelve years the vice president of Janklow & Nesbit Associates.

Prior to that she worked with Maria Campbell Associates as a book scout for foreign language publishers.

She received her editorial and subsidiary rights training at Simon & Schuster and as an associate editor at Joni Evans’ imprint, The Linden Press.

Cynthia is a member of the Authors Guild and the Women’s Media Group, and a former board member of the Association of American Literary Agents.

At the AALA, she is a member of the Ethics Committee and she and another Board member initiated a paid diversity internship program in partnership with CCNY.

She takes pride in the personal attention provided to authors, and in depth of knowledge and presence in the publishing industry that enable them to guide clients through every stage of their writing careers.
