Claire Paterson Conrad

Conrad began her publishing career at Chatto & Windus, worked at Granta and Canongate Books, moved to New York to become Publisher of the NYRB Classics series, and then joined J&N to help establish their London office where she is now a Literary Agent and Director.

She co‑agents with the US team on authors such as Monica Heisey, Jeffrey Eugenides, André Aciman, Maaza Mengiste and the Estate of Joan Didion, maintains a curated list spanning fiction and non‑fiction (including Michel Faber, Eva Rice, Oliver Burkeman and Gillian Anderson’s WANT), has represented books that were bestsellers and prize‑shortlisted or winning, works closely editorially with writers to develop proposals and novels, and remains fully engaged from pitch to publication.
