Luigi read English Literature at University College London and at Dartmouth College in the USA.
After working as a bookseller, he joined Macdonald Futura in 1986 as a children’s book editor and later worked for Harlequin/Mills & Boon and Penguin Books where he was an editorial director.
He became a literary agent in 1997 at Sheil Land Associates and founded LBA in 2005.
He was awarded Literary Agent of the Year in 2010.
Since 2016 he has run the First Novel Competition with the Daily Mail.
In 2019 he became the only literary agent appointed by the BBC to represent their audio output.
