Sarah Lazin began her publishing career on the editorial staff of Rolling Stone in 1971 and established Rolling Stone Press in 1976, representing it for thirty years while creating book packaging divisions for various major magazines and museums.

She is the co-founder and past president of the American Book Producers Association, has served on several boards, and taught at numerous publishing seminars.

She received an MA in history from New York University and retired from active submissions in 2024 to oversee her backlist.
