She founded the Strothman Agency in 2003 after senior publishing roles at Houghton Mifflin Company and Beacon Press and an early career at the University of Chicago Press.

She served as publisher of Trade & Reference Books at Houghton, edited major authors, is Vice President of the Authors Guild Foundation, was a trustee of Brown University, and divides her time between Maine and the Berkshires.
