Steven Malk is the third generation of his family to be involved in the children's book industry.

The son and grandson of children's booksellers, he worked at his parents' bookstore all through high school and college and entered the world of agenting immediately after graduating from UCSD in 1995.

He opened a west coast office for Writers House in 1998, where he represents a wide range of authors and illustrators.
